Welcome to rjqfx.com

This is the new home for my work and writing. I’m Ryan J. Quinlan, a freelance Compositing Supervisor and Pipeline TD/Consultant with more than 19 years in visual effects, working across feature films, commercials, music videos and interactive experiences.

What you’ll find here

Notes from the place where compositing and pipeline meet:

• Compositing: techniques, workflows and Nuke.
• Pipeline and tools: building artist-friendly tools for desktop and the cloud, and bridging the gap between artists and engineers.
• Leading teams: how to keep productions calm and efficient, and help people grow along the way.
• Teaching: lessons from my time as an Associate Professor at DePaul University and as a technical trainer and featured speaker for Foundry.
